Hello friends! As I shared in an earlier post, I have started working with a running coach. I am training for a June marathon – Grandma’s in Duluth, Minnesota. My goal is to go sub-4 and I’ve been building up mileage and now am officially in marathon training mode. I can’t believe I’m two months into training and only a bit over two months to go. Time is flying and I’m getting excited! Now that I am back to training, I will share my training recap every other week. I hope you’ll join in and link up! You can always follow my progress daily on Instagram, where I share all my runs.
Week of March 26
Monday – Five easy miles plus core.
Tuesday – Two warm up miles, 2×1 @ 7:56, 7:59 and one cool down mile. The two middle miles were supposed to be at 8:10 and those sub 8 miles hurt.
Wednesday – Rest day is always the best day!
Thursday – Eight miles at 9:37 pace.
Friday – Easy four miles.
Saturday – Cutback week on the long run – eight miles with my run crew.
Sunday – Easter Sunday! No run for the day.
Weekly mileage total: 30.75 miles
Week of April 2
Monday – Four easy miles to kick off the week. I went to yoga after work and it felt oh so good!
Tuesday – Three easy miles to get back into it.
Wednesday – Core!
Thursday – It was another weird freezing and cold morning and so I moved my shakeout to Saturday.
Friday – Crystal City 5k – I ran easy and had fun running with one of my Oiselle teammates.
Saturday – Just a couple of easy shakeout miles on the way to the race expo.
Sunday – Cherry Blossom Ten Miler! I’ll have a full recap of the race soon, but here’s the short version: it was hard from the start, I felt very sick during the last three miles and it was a struggle fest. Not a great day, but they all can’t be great!
Weekly mileage total: 25.11 miles
Total mileage for this training cycle: 456.71
I’m ready to really ramp it up for the last couple months of marathon training – how is your training going?
