César García Urbano Taylor: 2019 Action Plan

Last year, I created a 2018 action plan and that plan really helped to guide my year. Since I enjoyed the process and the outcomes (read my update on my 2018 plan here), I decided to do the same and create my 2019 action plan to guide my year. I encourage you to play along at home and come up with your own action plan, goal set or resolutions (whatever you choose to call your plan).

2019 ACTION PLAN

After some good thought and careful consideration, here is my 2019 action plan:

  • Get healthy, running-wise. I have struggled off and on with minor but annoying and run-limiting injuries all of 2018. One of my top goals is to handle this safely in 2019. I’m looking forward to nipping these injuries in the bud and running without pain. While I am still hopeful that I will be able to safely run the Shamrock Marathon in March, I’m not stressed about it. What is more important to me is getting healthy. If I’m not healthy, I’ll drop to the half or 8k – it’s that simple.
  • Continue working towards financial independence. I shared on Instagram that I’m currently reading Your Money or Your Life. This is a decades old personal finance book that has been updated for 2018 and focuses first on your relationship with money. I am constantly looking to grow my understanding of, relationship with and comfortableness with money and this book is a part of the toolkit I’m using for that goal.
  • Carving out time for my dreams. 2018 has been an incredibly busy year and some of my passions took a back seat. I love to write and ponder and reflect through words and I did very little writing this year (in comparison to what I’ve done in the past). Frankly, I was just often too tired to think about sitting at a computer and writing – after sitting at a computer all day (and into the evening) at work. I actually thought many times about shutting my blog down because I didn’t have the amount of time to devote to it that I wish I did. I kept it going because it is something that I truly enjoy. I like having a space to share my thoughts and that also serves as a record of racing and training. So in 2019, I’m going to work harder at creating space for me to write and for me to dream. What a few days off during the end of December showed me is that I’m still passionate about writing – but when I’m exhausted, it falls to the wayside. So I need to do a better job of ensuring I’m getting enough rest and not burning out – and this means with running as well.

I’m keeping it short and (relativity) simple so that’s it. Of course, there are a number of things I’ll be working on in addition to these plans but this is a strong overview of what I will be working towards.

What are you doing in the 2019 in terms of action plans, resolutions, goals, etc? I’d love to see your 2019 action plan!
